A Tangle Named "C!"

This tile has the letter "c" as it's string but bears little resemblance when complete.

And this is how it started! We will talk a little more about the beginnings of a tangle soon! Shading is so important! I'll try to remember before and after photos!
P. S. I don't really name the tiles.

Some days are just too sweet to be believed!!

When I was a kid, I could never have dreamed I'd have "pen pals" all over the world! Today, I received the loveliest surprise from Michelle in New Zealand - a package which just epitomizes her magnificent country. I especially love the handmade needlepoint needle case with the kiwi design which will house my working needles and help me keep those pesky little sharp things out of the carpet.
The kindness of others just makes one glad to be alive, doesn't it?
Thank you Michelle!!

And now, my tile using the letter "B" as a string - or roadmap for where my tangles might go!

Sweet Pippin held the tile for me while I put the string "B" within the border.

And here's the tangled "B"!! The tangle on the right is called verdigogh. We were given a cutting of Rosemary when we did this tangle. I think it's one of my favorites. Rosemary is for remembrance - and today I'll certainly remember for the kindness of my far away friend, Michelle!

New Little Panda

Can you just feel how soft this little panda is? He's just 4 inches tall and made of a wonderful new viscose fabric I ordered from Italy. He's not available as he's already in his new home. I expect there will be more, though, as you cannot imagine just how precious he is!! 100% softness!!

So, now I'm back from my CTZ experience, I'm challenging myself to make a group of tiles (the paper we use to make Zentangles) using strings (the lines we make on the paper - or tile) to divide the space we use to make the individual tangles ... made of the letters of the alphabet.

Starting with A:

Can you see where the "A" is?? The lines of the strings just disappear! They are only a suggestion to use when choosing the tangles for the space. I'm eager to get started using "B." I'll take a photo of the string before I do the tangles!

Thanks for sharing my joy of my new panda and these new tangles!!

Graduation Day!

It was graduatin day for my class of CZTs (Certified Zentangle Teachers)! The seminar flew by and we all made tons of new friends literally from all over the world. There were 16 countries represented: Singapore, Oman, Malaysia, Germany, Equador, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden , the USA!

It was fun trying new tangles and getting ready to share the magic!

But hard to say goodby to new friends!
I'm traveling home overnight by train. What a wonderful experience!!

More Zentangle Fun!

Here are some tiles from today. We learned many new tangles and had lots of fun.

At lunch time, we had time to visit Grace Episcopal Church just steps from the seminar and see this lovely organ and the beautiful stained glass windows.

The church was built in the mid 1800's and we enjoy the chimes through the day which announce the time on the hour.

We also did Zendalas today - mandalas done with tangles! Last day of seminar tomorrow and then an overnight train ride home!

Having a wonderful time- wish you were here!

Every detail is just perfection at the CZT (certified Zentangle teacher) training seminar here in Providence, Rhode Island.

We received many wonderful things including hand lettered name tags and notebooks.
This is a detail of a huge mosaic of Zentangle tiles done by my class during the first hours of instruction.
A closeup of tiles done in the afternoon class today.
There are 106 of us from at least 10 different countries. I had lunch today with the ladies from Malaysia. They are a delight!
Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!!

A Very Fluffy Bunny!

Well, this is just about the fluffiest little bunny I know of!! She's 4 inches plus ears just like her brother which I posted before this. When I received the viscose from Italy not long ago, I washed the fabric, ran my fingers through it against the grain and let it dry as it was. It is amazingly easy to work with and gives a very full, fluffy result. Should you be interested in acquiring some of the fur, email me and I'll send you a link to the source! This little lady may be spoken for, but if not, I'll put her in my Etsy shop the first of the week. I have some black viscose just like this so I'm looking forward to making a very fluffy panda!

Lilly is now on her way to her new home in Connecticut! She should be there to join in Easter festivities!

Edward Rabbit in my Etsy Shop! Hop Hop.....

I've just added this fine little fellow named Edward in my Etsy shop! If you are interested in adopting him hop on over to www.Donnaandthebears.etsy.com He's made out of the softest viscose which I ordered from Anna in Italy. I've just started using viscose for the look of it - just like toys I had when I was a kid. This is the ultimate!!! I have a couple other colors and hope to be getting more. He's just four inches tall plus those wonderful ears.  If Edward isn't on the first page of my shop, that means he's been adopted. Hope you love him!!
Edward has been adopted!! Thanks so much Tina!
