Little Oliver finds a home!

Well, I have just listed Oliver on Etsy and sent out the message to the mailing list and was about to put the extra photos on the Blog, and he's already been adopted! I'd like to share some of these photos anyway - especially the wings.

Do check back to see more colors of Butterfly Bears!

Sneak Peek for Oliver with wings!!

Little Mr. Oliver will be listed on Etsy tomorrow morning! He loves his wings! The silk fabric just sparkles. Hope you like him!!

Hello, I'm Oliver! Can you see me????

I'm a little blue butterfly bear! I'm getting my wings today and will be back to show you. I'm a lovely color of blue (probably a tad bit darker than I appear in this photo) with a pink nose. My wings will be lots of grand colors, I'm told - blue and pink and green and coral and the pink has some shadings of purple. Wooo woo!

Kitty Gargoyle

Cleo, now just over a year old, is an adventuress and an athlete. She routinely jumps from place to place needing only a small landing strip and using just the right amount of energy to complete her gymnastic routine.
One evening last week, when the kitchen light was on overhead, she leaped to the top of the refrigerator (which she does easily) and posed on the edge watching a bug flying around the light.

The limited edition of cover boy Allistar is now sold out - thanks to all!! A new little blue butterfly bear is emerging and his wings are almost done. Tune in later for a sneak peek!

I've just listed little Sunny in my Etsy store.  I'm happy to offer Sunny with free shipping worldwide as my little bears love to travel! Please visit: www.etsy.com/shop/donnaandthebears
Sunny has been adopted! Thanks Sue! Check back to see when the next butterfly lands!

Sunny with Wings!

Here's a little sneak peek of Sunny who will make an appearance tomorrow on Etsy! Actually, it's almost tomorrow now! I usually photograph the bears late in the afternoon or when the sky is overcast. We were out this afternoon and the sun was still with us shining through little Sunny's wings.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!

What a glorious day it is here in southern Virginia! I celebrated Earth Day a little earlier and now have a metal "composter" for the kitchen. Fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and tea bags will become treats for the flowers in the garden. I decided on the celebratory photo of the little strawberry flowers rather than the tin can, though, as it is a might more pleasing. Just think of all this little plant does: treats for us humans to eat as well as beauty in all parts of the plant to see - flowers, fruits, and a charming leaf, and a destination for the bees gathering pollen to take to the honey factory. In addition, if you look closely, a local spider seems to have spun in and amongst the leaves and stems to fulfill her life's work. What a gift this little strawberry is! Happy Earth Day!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Sunny! I just found out that I'm getting my wings tonight. Donna has been painting them on some silk in colors called teal, coral and bright sunny yellow - like me! In a day or so I'm going somewhere called Etsy. It sounds like a lot of fun!

YEA, Miss Kim!

My pretty spectacular daughter, known affectionatly as "Miss Kim" has been accepted for graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. Shown here in her moment with the Stanley Cup when she recently visited it on display at a museum in Pittsburgh, Kim will begin work on her degree: Masters of Science at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health in the Department of Infectious Disease and Microbiology. Yep, she's pretty and smart, too! AND she's perhaps the biggest fan the Pittsburgh Penguins have. I'm probably second.

Thanks Susan, John, Kelly, Rich, Evelyn, Dailey, and Tony

Some very special friends have made this an Easter to remember for me! I received a huge basket filled with tons of goodies - candy, bears and bunnies, games, candles and holders, wine, and more candy and some wonderful lotions, cremes and gels in a scent called "warm vanilla sugar" and more candy! WOW! How grand is that. These are a special bunch of folks and I thank you so very much for thinking of me. Thanks again to Dailey, Evelyn, Rich, Kelly, John, Tony, and to Susan!!!
Happy Easter to All!!

The Last Daffodil

As a bookend to the earlier photo of my first daffodil, I have to add this one. The valliant last bloom of the season (don't you wish they could last longer) in a moment of glory. It was one of those gloomy days last week when the sun peeked through for a moment. When I first began to study photography, I would ask any professional artist as many questions as they could stand! I remember one lady at the Boardwalk Art Festival in Virginia Beach telling me as I turned to leave : "Remember, you are photographing the light!" I think this photo epitomizes that and even though it was a flawed bloom (not perfect in the botanical sense) it leaves me with the feeling these beautiful flowers brought this year as the new Spring light brought them to life.
