He's A Dandy!

What fun it's been to work with the Teddies Worldwide theme for the upcoming show - Teddies and Friends on Vacation! Planning a vacation for this smart young lion was easy! I just decided where I'd most like to go and worked with that! England of course!! Dandy has his suitcase packed with a sticker from London on the case and a tiny porcelain teapot just in time for tea! He waves a miniature flag and is dressed for the theater or anywhere else he happens to go! He is a Dandy!
Now, click here www.teddiesworldwide.com and have a look at the bears and friends ready for vacation! You can vote for your favorites!!
The show will be coming up soon. Just check back and I'll have a link directly to the show once it has begun.
By the way! I decided to make a lion (my first) when I saw that beautiful Tisval fabric used for his head. His body is made with another fabric which just matches the lower fur in the Tisval. I'll have a couple of bunnies, a new standing elephant, and a bear for the show ...... but I can't show them to you before the show begins!!!
Now, go on over and vote!!!!

Man OH Man!

Have you ever had one of those days?? Months??? Year - up to now?? My best outdoor buddy - feral kitty Abe (Kim thought he looked like Abraham Lincoln with a suit and white shirt on when we were deciding on a name) seems to understand just what I mean. I'm thinking the technology dragons have been after me!! Computers (2), my CAMERA, and my printer@!@#$%#$!@#$#@@
But now, coming out of the dark, it seems, I'm using Kim's hand me down Mac Book Pro - pretty impressive for a hand me down, I'll say - we are sharing her camera, and I bought a new printer. Oh, my iPhone has been acting up, too, but I'm hoping it will last until the next models are out.
SO. If the postings have been a bit sparse, all that could account for it!! Just in time for the upcoming Teddies Worldwide show's preview coming up this Friday. I was getting nervous, but Kim has given me Mac lessons and even written out excellent instructions for me to follow to download photos and put them somewhere on the Mac and then find them again when it comes time to send them to Teddies Worldwide or post them here!!

I'm Back!!!!

Do check back for my preview ((lion) hehe - and a link to all the wonderful creations on Friday!!!

Panda Bunny Lop

Wee Panda Bunny is on his way to his new home.  His new Mom saw mention of him in my last post and loved him before he was born!!! Thanks Debbie!

I wish I had time for more bunnies before Easter as bunnies are probably my favorite.

The good news is that I've been accepted for the online TeddiesWorldwide summer show which allows friends to be part of the fun! As you know, I make bunnies, elephants, turtles and kitties and am thinking maybe a raccoon may be in the works soon. We often have them visit our deck and they are just the cutest!!! I'm thinking maybe a lion too!
Be sure to mark your calendar for this wonderful show!! Truly an International affair, you'll have the opportunity to see and adopt bears and friends from all over the globe!
I'm just trying to decide where my little ones will be vacationing!!

New Baby Bunny!

How 'bout this?? Here's the prototype for my smallest new baby bunny - named Baby Bunny so far. He's about 2 3/4 inches tall. I think there are a couple of things I'll change, but I just love him. I wasn't sure of the ears until it was time to sew them on - then I realized he would be a lop. You can't see in these photos, but he has a fluffy white tail.

and here he is on my deck railing - waiting for the leave to pop open on the tree limbs behind him. I think I'll try a wee Panda Baby Bunny next.

The Teddies Worldwide Show Has Begun!

Jarome the wee Garden Gnome will be there to greet you as you visit this "all bear" show! Just click here: www.teddiesworldwide.com to see all the wonderful bears! This is truly an international show and you'll be able to see bears created all over the world.
Wee Jarome shown above sits atop a felt mushroom which I made from a pattern I found on Etsy from a shop called Craft Pixie! I did a few things differently to assure Jarome would have a steady seat. The pattern developer suggested filling the stem with rice. I added steel pellets on the bottom to make sure that little fungus sat still! I used rice toward the top of the stem. The slice of wood, the mushroom and Jarome are all separate and can be moved around for display. If you'd like to purchase the pattern, just email me and I'll give you the link to the Etsy shop.
Enjoy the show!! Buy Bears!!!

Wow! My bears were all adopted by 4:20!!! Thanks to everyone!!!

Spring Has Sprung!

Wishful thinking? Well, maybe a Big wish for that season of warming lengthening days was the inspiration for my preview piece for the upcoming Teddies Worldwide online show. Wee tiny "Spring" stands atop a lovely purple crocheted flower which you might remember from an earlier post and that's on top of an old rusty bed spring! As soon as I can, I shall add to this post directions for just how I did this. It was rather windy the day Spring and I went outdoors for her photo shoot. I had to wait for the gusts to subside to balance her just so!  I've crocheted a dress and matching hat just for her out of a beautiful Lizbeth thread in a shade called Vineyard Harvest. I hope you can see all the colors! I'll post an unclose of her soon.  For now, the preview for the show has begun! Hop on over to www.teddiesworldwide.com and see the wonderful preview photos for this all bear show. You can vote for your favorites!

Here's a closer look! I just realized I have the photos of making the "pin cushion" she's sitting on still on my phone so I'll have to transfer them over - then will post a "how to."  Almost show time!!
Use the link above to see the show at 4 p.m. EST!!

Tiny Trousers for Tubby Teddies

One of the things I most admire about my daughter, Kim, is her brilliant ability to solve problems. She's an excellent knitter and yesterday I happened to mention that I would appreciate it if she could puzzle out how to knit some trousers for bears. The only little standing bear in the house is little Wee Much which I made several years ago. He kindly agreed to work with Kim as she designed the pants.

This was a bottom up operation as she started at the ankles. She discovered Wee Much has big feet!! The cuffs of the trousers have ribbing so will expand to allow him to take the garment on and off. Kim used double pointed needles which you can see surrounding Wee Much's right leg.

And those needles which resemble shish-ka-bob sticks followed him all the way up to the waist. Kim made a cute little draw string to allow the top to fit perfectly. These pants are meant for a kitty cat who hasn't been made yet, so I'm sure that ribbing and draw string will come in handy. If you have an odd size bear to fit and have questions, email me at the address in the right column and I'll put you in touch with my very talented Kim!!

And a final view- Wee Much received a sweater from Kim too!
