Penguins win the Stanley Cup!!

Thrilled to report that the Pittsburgh Penguins have just won the Stanley Cup! Kim promised to send the photo from the Pittsburgh paper tomorrow. She and I were on the phone through much of the game and especially the last few minutes of the game. These Penguins CAN fly!!!!

Let's Go Pens!

Kim sent me this photo today from yesterday's Pittsburgh newspaper. All the city is thrilled, along with Kim and I, that the Pens have a chance to win the Stanley Cup Championship on Friday night as the team is tied with Detroit at three games apiece. Whoever wins on Friday night will get to "skate the cup" as they celebrate a season victory. Fingers crossed it'll be the Penguins!!!! I think I'm just going to have to make a tiny penguin.

Two Golden Teddy Nominations!

I am thrilled to have received two Golden Teddy Nominations from Teddy Bear Review for 2009! The little girls who have won are both miniatures, one dressed and one bare.

Maude, handsewn, stands just under 4 inches and is dressed in a pretty cotton print dress with matching hat. Her sleeves are cotton batiste and she wears pretty cotton bloomers trimmed in French lace - though I don't think you can see in the photo. Maude is named for my grandmother, Maude Abbott Miner, who raised me and taught me how to sew as well as all the other worthwhile things one learns in life. When I needed a sweet old fashioned name for this little charmer, my daughter, Kim, suggested Maude. Perfect!

Mimi, standing a little shorter than Maude, is handsewn from silk. It's the softest fabric and suits her little flirty personality. She wears eye makeup and wears a hand dyed silk ribbon.

Both these girls are one of a kind and will be available at different times during the summer on Ebay.

I've just gotten back from helping Kim move to Pennsylvania and am happy to report that all went well. The trip was gorgeous as the leaves on the trees have made everything there that pretty new spring green color. Luckily, I have a new Iphone and Kim and I can keep in touch through calling, shared photos, and texting! Technology is grand!

A Big Move

My daughter, Kim, is moving to Pennsylvania! She will attend the University of Pittsburgh in the fall. She works for Barnes and Noble Bookstore and requested a transfer to the area. Well, don't you know that they want her there NOW! She and I have just gotten back from an exploratory trip where we found a lovely apartment for her and she met her new boss. The apartment will be available on May 8th. We hurried home and have begun to sort and pack. She'll be working here right up until moving day, so we are using the odd hour to get everything ready to go. I'm in charge of her kitchen stuff!! We have plenty of extras, so I should be able to outfit her well.

So. I mention this to explain why the little bears dancing in my head will be born a little later than I had planned. I'm taking a little bag of sewing along wherever I go so hope to have some ready as soon as the dust settles. I'll try to have some sneak peaks soon!

We came home to find the beautiful clematis you see blooming on our front porch. I planted it a few years ago and it never fails to bring joy each Spring!

Easter Bunny!

Well, don't you know a little local resident showed up right on time! We have several bunnies that live out in our woods and this one came to greet me on the day. He (or she) was kind enough to wait for me to get my camera! Spring (with sometimes chilly temperatures) is here in southern Virginia in all it's glory. We had a mini cherry blossom festival when our one little tree bloomed in the front yard. I'll post a photo of that soon - but it can't beat the wildlife. Love you bunny!!!
