Field Trip!!

Yesterday, Kim and I attended the Fall Fiber Festival & Montpelier Sheep Dog Trials in Orange County, Virginia. Wow!! Did we have fun! We enjoyed seeing sheep, goats, alpacas, bunnies, and the wonderful sheep dogs as they worked. There were vendors from all over with gorgeous fiber, yarn, and tools, and demonstrations which included sheep shearing, spinning, kumihimo, and knitting with huge size 50 needles.

Hand dyed yarn from sheep, goats, and rabbits were luscious!

Seeing the animals was my favorite part of the trip!

These demonstrators kindly let me photograph them while they worked!

Prizes were awarded in many categories.

Hand made items were on offer from many vendors.

Could this be a "panda" sheep.... or was it a goat??

Sheep dog herding in the next posting!!!

If you are interested in attending the festival next year, here's the web site: www.fallfiberfestival.org

I adore that fine cob web shawl. What a contrast to the knitting done on big needles.

Indeed, Kay! I love it all, but I'm not sure I'd go for those size 50 knitting needles - like working with tree trunks!
Hugs to you!
