The Hobbit Wins!

I'm thrilled to report that my Hobbit gallery piece has won first place in the 8 inch and under category. Penny French's "Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe" won first place in the over 8 inch category. The evening's activities included a banquet, judging of the fabulous hats, and the auction of two pieces in addition to the announcement of the People's Choice awards. As luck would have it the photo I took of my own piece didn't turn out well, but I have a ton of other photos of the gallery which was just wonderful this year. As it's past midnight, I will wait until tomorrow morning to post them. The download to Blogger is particularly slow and I'm pretty tired. There was an hour of shopping for the people who attended the convention but the main show is tomorrow.

Donna, I am so thrilled for you. I so wish I could have been there to celebrate with you. As I mentioned, the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings series have been my absolute favorites since I was a child so when I heard you were making Bilbo and his home I just knew it would be wonderful. It sounds like everyone else thought so too. I can't wait to see pictures of the completed piece. Congratulations!! You are such a talented lady and you deserve every award you receive.

Big Bear Hugs,
Carolyn

Carolyn! Thank you so much. I do so wish you could have gone to TBAI this year. It was a lot of fun and there were so many fabulous bears there. I will be posting a photo of the Hobbit House, Bilbo, and Gandalf! As I'm shipping the piece to the museum in California, I brought it home with me. I should have a chance to get a proper photo. The evening before I left we had a thunderstorm and I just didn't take the whole thing outdoors to take pictures when it was wet.
I thank you more than you could know for your kind comment and your friendship!
Big hugs,
Donna
